Family issues, loss of job, lack of self-esteem, mental imbalances, in addition to a huge problem that is parallel to all of the aforementioned: drug and alcohol addiction, are the main reasons why people become homeless. With all these issues in mind, the country’s Unified Health System (SUS) finds it very challenging to treat homeless people. The Brazilian Healthcare Network (RAS) is active in municipalities with the goal of reestablishing and re-including these people in social life, ensuring their rights and duties and reducing prejudice and social inequality.
The project therefore works to establish RAS in municipalities, providing services and logistic support focused on interpersonal relationships with homeless people. The initiative proposes the analysis of interviews to be made and an increase in the number of Street Ambulatories, with the goal of taking Full Healthcare Network to users of alcohol, crack and other drugs.
